Autumn season

Autumn in Lapland is a Season of Colour and Calm

At Levi Igloos, autumn stretches from late August to November, bringing a season rich in contrasts. Early autumn nights are crisp and free of snow, offering some of the clearest skies for capturing the aurora borealis. By September, the landscape is transformed into a canvas of fiery reds, golds and oranges, making daylight hours just as enchanting for photography and outdoor adventures as the darkening evenings. While the landscape bursts into the colour, the skies do that too, as first Northern Lights can be seen in autumn.

Embrace the colours of autumn and follow the Northern Lights beneath crystal-clear skies.

Vibrant Colours and Calmness

September paints the trees and fells in fiery shades of red, orange and gold, creating breathtaking daytime scenery to accompany the star-filled skies at night.  Ruska we call it in Finland.

The fall foliage, the crisp, golden days of early autumn are perfect for outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, golfing, paddling or horseback riding, each offering a chance to enjoy the fresh Arctic air and the stillness of nature. As the season advances, the first snow usually falls in October or November, with a lasting cover settling by mid-November. Many activities continue well into this period, so long as you dress warmly, and our team will be delighted to help plan and arrange experiences that enrich your stay.

As autumn gradually yields to winter, Mystical November brings a quiet sense of anticipation. The landscape is calm, the days are short, and the snow has not yet taken full hold. It is a time of transition, inviting you to slow your pace, embrace the tranquility of the season and enjoy the cosy comfort of your igloo before the arrival of the deep Arctic winter.

Aurora Season Begins in Autumn

The Northern Lights season at Levi Igloos begins in late August and continues through until April, offering guests some of the clearest skies of the year. From August to October, the nights are crisp, snow-free and often crystal clear, creating ideal conditions for capturing the aurora on camera. This is the perfect season for photographers and stargazers, when the Milky Way and shimmering Northern Lights share the same vast Arctic sky. From the comfort of your glass igloo, you’ll enjoy an uninterrupted view towards the northern horizon, making each clear night an unforgettable experience.
